Brent Montgomery has built a media empire stemming from his roots as a dedicated and award-winning producer and self-made entrepreneur. One of the television industry’s most successful executives, he serves as Chief Executive Officer of Wheelhouse.
Prior to forming Wheelhouse, Brent served as Chief Executive Officer of ITV America following the 2014 sale of his company Leftfield Entertainment – the first US “super-indie” television production group – to UK-based, multinational media company ITV, which purchased an 80% stake for $360 million, the most lucrative deal ever made in the North American non-fiction television space.
Brent started his first company, Leftfield Pictures, in a heatless basement in New York City, selling his first television series in 2008, and selling the iconic, global hit Pawn Stars to the History channel the following year. Leveraging that success, he raised debt financing with a personal guarantee and created Leftfield Entertainment in 2013, encompassing flagship Leftfield Pictures, Sirens Media, producer of numerous hit series including the long-running The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and launching production companies Loud TV and Outpost Entertainment.
As Chief Executive Officer of ITV America, Brent oversaw ITV’s entire U.S. portfolio, which, in addition to Leftfield, included production companies such as ITV Entertainment, High Noon Entertainment and Thinkfactory Media, the creators behind hit broadcast, cable and OTT platform series, including Fixer Upper, The Four: Battle for Stardom, Hell’s Kitchen, Duck Dynasty, Queer Eye, The First 48, Pawn Stars and The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
In his role at ITV, Brent also spearheaded unprecedented strategic investments in high-profile talent deals with such luminaries as Michael Strahan, John Cena, Bethenny Frankel, La La Anthony, Lara Spencer and, most recently, Kenny Smith.
He has been named multiple times to The Hollywood Reporter’s “Reality Power List,” Variety’s “Reality Impact Report” and “Gotham 50,” and in 2016 was named Realscreen’s “Producer Extraordinaire,” entering its Hall of Fame.
Brent is a founding member of the Non-Fiction Producers Association, now NPACT after merging in 2017 with industry association PactUS, and serves on the board of directors of NPACT, the Lincoln Center Media and Entertainment Council and ITV Global Studios.
