Ed Simpson serves as chief strategy officer for Wheelhouse Group, overseeing strategic planning and business development across all divisions of the content and media group.

Prior to Wheelhouse, Simpson served as Executive Vice President of Business Development & International at ITV America, where he was in charge of business development, corporate strategy and international across ITV America’s production companies, including ITV Entertainment, Leftfield Pictures, Thinkfactory Media and High Noon Entertainment. He oversaw the group’s branded entertainment initiatives and was responsible for monetizing existing rights, establishing new revenue streams and developing third-party relationships and co-productions.

Prior to his role at ITV America, Simpson was Senior Vice President of Business Development & International at Leftfield Entertainment, its including flagship company Leftfield Pictures, Sirens Media, Loud TV and Outpost Entertainment – which was acquired by ITV in 2014.

A seasoned producer originally from the UK, Simpson joined Leftfield Pictures in 2012, focusing on mergers and acquisitions. He served as co-architect of Leftfield’s growth strategy, including through its first acquisition of Sirens Media, and was instrumental in establishing production companies Loud TV, Outpost Entertainment and Riot Creative.

During his tenure at Leftfield and ITV America, Simpson closed a series of local format production deals for hit shows including Pawn Stars (the UK, Australia) and Alone (Norway, Denmark) and spearheaded the migration of various ITV formats, such as The Job Interview, Spotless, Four Weddings, and Big Star Little Star for production in the U.S.. He also orchestrated a variety of production “pod” deals at ITV America with numerous producers.

Prior to joining Leftfield, Simpson served as showrunner at RDF USA (the U.S. arm of RDF Media), which produced the hit series Wife Swap for ABC. He was also executive producer of development for BBC New York and was a showrunner for the production company Left/Right. Simpson’s other television credits include Nanny 911, Faking It, Top of the Pops, Holiday Showdown and Why Am I Still Single?!
